1. D.C. DEFENDERS (6-0)
LAST WEEK: 1
LAST GAME: DEF. HOUSTON 36-27
NEXT GAME: SATURDAY (4/1) AT ORLANDO (0-6) 6PM ESPN/ESPN+
LINE: D.C. -9.5
D.C. is just a monster on all sides of the ball. They are clearly the best team in the league and it’s not even close. In fact, they have beaten the #2 team twice already. I had my doubts early on with Ta’amu, but he has found his groove. Abram Smith had another great game at almost 100 yards rushing. Defensively, you can’t even compete with them. Gregg Williams is a beast and has this team ready to go. I don’t see them losing a game, but that’s why we play and I’ve obviously been wrong before.
2. ST LOUIS BATTLEHAWKS (4-2)
LAST WEEK: 3
LAST WEEK: DEF. VEGAS 29-6
NEXT GAME: SUNDAY (4/2) 2PM AT HOUSTON ESPN/ESPN+
LINE: HOUSTON -3
St Louis is clicking on all cylinders, McCarron is the league MVP as of today. He had another stellar day with 236 yards and 3 touchdowns. Also they’re just fun to watch, and oh yeah, have the best fans in the league. D.C. is a close second.
If I’m betting on XFL games, I’m taking St Louis to cover and win outright. I’m not sure what they’re thinking having them as an underdog. It should be a fun game regardless.
3. SEATTLE SEA DRAGONS (4-2)
LAST WEEK: 4
LAST GAME: DEF. ORLANDO 26-19
NEXT GAME: FRIDAY (3/31) 7PM AT ARLINGTON FX/ESPN+
LINE: SEATTLE -4
I must admit, the team that frustrates me the most is Seattle. While they are winning, they just don’t always play great. Yes, winning matters, but if you want to compete for the Championship – you will need to play consistant.
Gordan was shut down against a really bad Orlando team, he only had two targets and 0 receptions. DiNucci had an okay game, but again, they’re winning.
4. HOUSTON ROUGHNECKS (4-2)
LAST WEEK: 2
LAST GAME: LOSS TO D.C. 36-27
NEXT GAME: SUNDAY (4/2) 2 PM ESPN/ESPN+
LINE: HOUSTON -3
The one-time MVP hopeful Brandon Silvers has looked human-like the last two weeks. In fact, this week he was benched for his play and backup Cole McDonald came in and gave the Roughnecks the spark they needed. It has not been announced how they will move forward at the QB position, but Houston is trending down, while they were once a favorite. Can they get back to that level of play? We will see. I do not think they win against St Louis.
5. SAN ANTONIO BRAHMAS (2-4)
LAST WEEK: 6
LAST GAME: DEF. ARLINGTON 15-9
NEXT GAME: SATURDAY (4/1) 3PM AT VEGAS ESPN2/ESPN+
LINE: VEGAS -2.5
In what was the worst game to watch last week, honestly. San Antonio had a change at quarterback, but man they just can’t get anything going offensively. They only managed 162 yards of total offense.
I have them above Arlington simply because they look better than Arlington as of late. The win did save their season and keep them in the playoff hunt.
6. ARLINGTON RENEGADES (3-3)
LAST WEEK: 5
LAST GAME: LOSS TO SAN ANTONIO 15-9
NEXT GAME: FRIDAY (3/31) 7PM VS SEATTLE FX/ESPN+
LINE: SEATTLE -4
Well, the team that once had promise is now struggling mightily, but the front office took notes and made some moves. They cut QB Sloter, and traded for Luis Perez from Vegas. He is an upgrade at the QB position, but also shows that Vegas is trying to go in another direction.
I am really curious to see how this plays out and I believe they have a shot to win against Seattle now. I actually like Arlington in this game. Their defense has not been the issue at all, all season.
7. VEGAS VIPERS (1-5)
LAST WEEK: 7
LAST GAME: LOSS TO ST LOUIS 29-6
NEXT GAME: SATURDAY (4/1) 3PM VS SAN ANTONIO ESPN2/ESPN+
LINE: VEGAS -2.5
It was a rough game for Vegas against St Louis last week. Perez had a rough game and replaced with Hundley, and Vegas feels that is the direction they are going as they have traded Perez to Arlington, and didn’t even ask for a backup in his place. Maybe this will be the positive they needed to move forward, and get it going, but they are falling fast and looking to just salvage the season at this point.
8. ORLANDO GUARDIANS (0-6)
LAST WEEK: 8
LAST GAME: LOSS TO SEATTLE 26-19
NEXT GAME: SATURDAY (4/1) 6PM VS D.C. ESPN/ESPN+
LINE: D.C. -9.5
I really believe Orlando has a chance to win a game this season, but 0-6 teams will do 0-6 things. They are leading the league in penalties and it hurts them every time they have something going. Dormady is playing well at QB for them with Darrington leading the rushing attack, but man, so many penalties. I do think they cover this week against D.C. but ultimately fall short.
The league had it’s lowest actual attendance overall this week, but the TV ratings were fantastic. So things seem to be leveling out overall. We are in the strecth playoff run now. Let’s see who will fight to get those spots.
