Our Arlington Renegades won the XFL South Division Championship Game against the Houston Roughnecks with a score of 26-11 on Saturday April 29th, 2023, at TDECU Stadium in Houston. With this victory, the Renegades have advanced to the XFL Championship game, which is scheduled to take place on May 13, 2023, at The Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The Renegades will play against the winner of the XFL North Division Championship Game between the D.C. Defenders and the Seattle Sea Dragons, which was won by the DC Defenders.

The Renegades scored 23 points and three touchdowns in the first half, with QB Luis Perez throwing for 289 yards and three touchdowns. WR JaVonta Payton caught two of the touchdowns and had 121 receiving yards. RB De’Veon Smith had 94 yards on the ground. The Renegades’ defense also held strong in the second half and earned a takeaway for the 11th consecutive game, as CB De’Vante Bausby intercepted a pass by Houston QB Cole McDonald late in the 4th quarter.

The Roughnecks’ season came to an end after losing to the Renegades, with a final score of 26-11. The game had an attendance of 13,568. In the first quarter, the Renegades scored a touchdown on their opening possession, while the Roughnecks had a turnover on downs and a punt on their two possessions. The Renegades scored another touchdown early in the second quarter, while the Roughnecks responded with a touchdown rush by RB Jeremy Cox, followed by a successful 2-point try. However, the Renegades extended their lead with another touchdown and a field goal, making the score 23-8 at halftime. In the second half, the Roughnecks scored a field goal, but it wasn’t enough to mount a comeback, and the Renegades sealed the game with a late field goal and an interception.
