1. D.C. DEFENDERS (6-1) âž–
LAST WEEK: LOSS TO ORLANDO 37-36
NEXT WEEK: SUNDAY, APRIL 9, | 7PM EST | ESPN2/ESPN+ | AT SEATTLE SEA DRAGONS
The unthinkable happened, the Defenders loss, but that’s not the unthinkable – it’s who they loss to. Orlando came in, winless, while playing better and pulled off the biggest upset of the XFL season. This gave St Louis some chance to win the division, but D.C. has already beaten the Battlehawks twice. The Sea Dragons and Defenders will be the matchup of the week, and let’s see how they respond to adversity.I thought they were a lock for the playoffs, but now with the loss, they are only one game in front of St Louis and Seattle. Reminder, only the top 2 teams from each division make the playoffs.
2. ST LOUIS BATTLEHAWKS (5-2) âž–
LAST WEEK: DEF HOUSTON 24-15
NEXT WEEK: SATURDAY (4.😎 1PM ESPN/ESPN+ VS VEGAS
McCarron had him yet another game. I know, it’s like a record just repeating itself, but another 260 yard, 3 touchdown day.Oh, did I mention St Louis final three games are at home? So they get that home field advantage in their back pocket. Vegas looked and played better but not much has slowed down the Battlehawks lately.St Louis has to battle for the rest of the season to get into the playoffs, the XFL North is no joke, and one team – a really good team, will not make the playoffs.
3. SEATTLE SEA DRAGONS (5-2) âž–
LAST GAME: DEF ARLINGTON 24-15
NEXT GAME: SUNDAY, APRIL 9 | 7PM EST | ESPN2/ESPN+ | VS D.C. DEFENDERS
If you haven’t heard, the rich keep getting richer. The Sea Dragons have signed running back Phillip Lindsay, go with Josh Gordon and DiNucci. This is a huge game for Seattle, a really good team will miss the playoffs in the North division and this could cause a three way tie for first. With only a few weeks left in the game, this is as important as it gets.
4. HOUSTON ROUGHNECKS (4-3) âž–
LAST GAME: LOSS TO ST LOUIS 24-15
NEXT GAME: SUNDAY, APRIL 9 | 3PM EST | ABC/ESPN+ | AT SAN ANTONIO
When you look up “the wheels fell off,” you will find the Roughnecks. Quarterback Brandon Silvers was inactive this game and they are just trending in the wrong direction. If they lose to San Antonio this week… I would be shocked, but ask D.C. what can happen any game.
If Silvers can get back to playing how he was earlier in the year, they will be okay, but as of this moment, they are a dumpster fire. Wade Phillips needs to do something to get this team back on track.
5. ARLINGTON RENEGADES (3-4) 🔺1
LAST GAME: LOSS TO SEATTLE 24-15
NEXT GAME: SATURDAY APRIL 8 | 4PM EST | ESPN/ESPN+ | AT ORLANDO
Arlington traded for Perez, to make a change at QB, but he was inactive this weekend. The good news? He will play this weekend against Orlando. With Houston’s recent losing streak, the Renegades are only a game out for hosting the playoff game.
Arlington needs to find their groove again, and they can take advantage of the situation at hand. Luckily for them, I think they are in the playoffs regardless, just because San Antonio and Orlando are that bad.
6. VEGAS VIPERS (2-5) 🔺 1
LAST GAME: DEF SAN ANTONIO 26-12
NEXT GAME: SATURDAY, APRIL 8 | 1PM EST | ESPN/ESPN+ | AT ST LOUIS
Vegas traded Perez and you wasn’t sure what to expect, and then the newbie McClendon comes out and balls. Granted, it was against San Antonio, but you take advantage of what is given to you – and he did. I don’t think their winning ways continue this week against St Louis, but similar to Orlando, you can see some hope and glimmer of a team there. I just hope the city can get behind them. Currently, more people are attending the Vegas IFL games more than XFL.Their playoff chances are done, they will not make it, but they can have a say in who does.
7. SAN ANTONIO BRAHMAS (2-5) ⬇🔻2
LAST GAME: LOSS TO VEGAS 26-12
NEXT GAME: SUNDAY, APRIL 9 | 3PM | ABC/ESPN+ | VS HOUSTON
I have no words. I hate this for San Antonio fans, they are a fanbase that deserves a winner, they deserve better play. The championship is being played in San Antonio and well, the Brahmas won’t be there – at least to compete. They just need to get to the offseason and reevaluate everything about this team.
8. ORLANDO GUARDIANS (1-6) âž–
LAST GAME: DEF. D.C. 37-36
NEXT GAME: SATURDAY, APRIL 8 | 4PM | ESPN/ESPN+ | VS ARLINGTON
They did it. THEY FINALLY DID IT. Orlando won a game, and not just any game – this was against the best team in the league.Dormady has this team clicking offensively and I don’t know if they’re going to win again but they are absolutely fun to watch now. I don’t know if they will win another one, but this should give the team and fans some hope for the future.
