In a game against the New York Yankees on Friday night, our Texas Rangers’ pitcher Jacob deGrom left in the fourth inning due to forearm tightness, marking the second time in three games that he exited early due to injury concerns. DeGrom had retired his first 10 batters and had a 5-0 lead before walking Anthony Rizzo with one out in the fourth. After getting a full count on Gleyber Torres, deGrom threw a 96.6 mph fastball that sailed outside for a ball, then reached for his left side before following with an 89.4 mph slider. The pitcher threw his slowest pitch of the night, which was outside, and Willie Calhoun lined an opposite-field single to left. Athletic trainer Jacob Newburn and pitching coach Mike Maddux went to the mound, and Maddux summoned Rangers manager Bruce Bochy to the mound. Bochy then went to the mound, and deGrom walked to the dugout while Dane Dunning was called in from the bullpen.
