Nathan Eovaldi set a career high with 12 strikeouts and extended his scoreless streak to innings as our Texas Rangers beat the Oakland Athletics in the first game of a four game series. Eovaldi pitched 8 innings of three-hit ball to become the third pitcher in franchise history with three consecutive starts of at least eight scoreless innings. The Rangers’ offense provided support with four runs. The A’s struggled against Eovaldi, and rookie pitcher Norge Carlos Medina allowed three runs in six innings. Former A’s pitcher Vida Blue was honored before the game. Rangers designated Ian Kennedy for assignment and recalled John King. Corey Seager began a rehab assignment for the Rangers that start with his debut with the MiLB team Frisco Roughriders. The A’s made roster moves and have several players nearing returns from the injured list. Martin Perez will start for the Rangers in the next game, while Ken Waldichuk will start for the A’s.
