The Seattle Mariners defeated our Texas Rangers 5-0 on Tuesday night, with starting pitcher George Kirby striking out nine batters in seven innings. Kirby had only given up three walks in seven starts this season and lowered his ERA to 2.62. Tom Murphy hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning, his first home run in over a year, and finished the game with two hits, a walk, and two runs scored. Ty France also had a two-run single in the third inning to extend his hit streak to seven games. The Rangers’ three-game winning streak was snapped, and they placed outfielder Travis Jankowski on the injured list with a hamstring strain and recalled catcher Sam Huff from Triple-A Round Rock.
